Saudi Arabia

In the heart of Saudi Arabia, celebrity interior designer Kari Whitman designed a home for one of her treasured clients to be their oasis. Full of custom furniture, art, and finishes, Kari went shopping all over Europe and the United States for unique pieces when she created this modern paradise in the desert.

A staircase such as this one deserves some drama, and designer to the stars Kari Whitman was up to the task. A large chandelier from Il Pezzo Mancante fills the high ceiling, while a custom watercolor rug and stair runner set a luxurious tone. A large mirrored table custom designed by Kari Whitman draws the eye toward the grand staircase rising just through the foyer. Natural light reaches every space in the house through the large doorways, and circular art by Lucy McLaughlan pops on the walls.

In the main salon, floor to ceiling windows provide lots of natural light, while pops of green and bronze give the room a vibrant, inviting energy. Most of this space was sourced from vintage stores in Italy and London, including a pair of vintage armchairs from Again and Again, re-covered with fabric from Kravet. A pair of custom gray and black armchairs with fabric from Duralee provide comfortable and durable seating made especially for our clients

The second entryway to the home invites you in and sets the tone of creativity! For this entry, Kari Whitman chose to design a custom stone slab bench fabricated by DeGarrio Metal Studio in collaboration with Soli, with clean lines and simple design in order to focus your attention on the pops of color. The paint splatter rug, also custom by Kari, draws the eye in with splashes of red and blue. Colorful artwork by James Verbicky is reflected by a geometric mirror installation designed by Kari, drawing the eye to the focal point of the space, and bouncing light throughout the entryway.
Kari created a “coveted” dining table with vintage mid century bases from Milo Baughman pieces and a custom glass top by PulpGlass, a fun idea for a cozy dining space.
A vintage chandelier from Stuart Haygarth on the ceiling illuminates a pair of Vladimir Kagen chairs covered with Kravet fabrics. Custom sconces and rug, and a distressed mirror fabricated by DeGarrio Metal Studio complete this inviting vignette in the lobby.

When your clients love to host, and often have many people in their home, adequate and comfortable seating is a must. To design several cohesive sitting areas, Kari Whitman incorporated pops of color over black and white, creating a flow between spaces. Custom couches and carpets designed by Kari Whitman provide ample comfortable space for guests. Bold black and white artwork by Irene Mamiye gives a dramatic and larger than life sensation to the space, while art by James Verbicky on another wall keeps the space modern and funky.

These clients are creative, and allowed designer Kari Whitman to create! A passionate art lover, Kari designed and incorporated many pieces of modern art throughout the project. A glass and chain art piece from EcoFirstArt, as well as a unique mirror installation and a geometric metal bookshelf both designed by Kari grace important spaces in the home and make this client’s home truly special.

Powder your nose in this aspen wood and metal shelved bathroom! Colorado native Kari Whitman put some of herself into the project- custom designed shelving with Aspen trees right through the center brings a little bit of nature inside.

In this quirky sitting room, colorful artwork, red couches, and yellow chairs around the table make the room feel lighthearted and fun. A “Leggy TV”, a soccer jersey from the client’s favorite team, and half-spherical coffee tables are all touches of whimsy that make this room perfect for entertaining and relaxing. Exposed brick on one wall and a neutral custom rug by Kari gives a down to earth backdrop for a room fit for family.

The outdoor areas of this home deserved a special touch to encapsulate the beauty of the surroundings. Custom tables and seating on the terrace create a luxurious setting to enjoy the hot weather poolside.
